Dear Business Partners and Colleagues,
Welcome to the second edition of the DHCC newsletter for 2013. We are pleased to share news that celebrates the success of our community and showcases the latest developments. DHCC is honored to have received His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the official inauguration of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Centre.
As part of our initiatives to foster industry collaboration and widen our network, we received a number of high level delegations in the second quarter and also signed partnership agreements with leading local and International institutions. Moreover, to enhance the profile of our community and facilitate more opportunities, we participated in several high profile events including the Arabian Travel Market, during which we were able to reach out to international audiences and highlight Dubai Healthcare City as a destination for medical tourism.
We also organized two networking events in the second quarter in coordination with Dubai Health Authority and the Ministry of Health to provide more opportunities for collaboration and facilitate knowledge sharing. During the coming months, we will continue to focus on providing similar initiatives to support the DHCC community in their practice.
We hope you find this newsletter informative and as always we look forward to receive your valuable feedback.
Best regards,
Marwan Abedin
CEO of Dubai Healthcare City

KHMSC is a state-of-the-art training centre. It is the first comprehensive training facility of its kind in the UAE, for the training of healthcare professionals in technical and non-technical skills in a simulated environment with no risk to patients.
The centre features interactive human patient simulators that provide both experienced clinicians and students (postgraduates and undergraduates) the opportunity to learn, rehearse and perfect procedures – from the basic to the extremely complex – in a risk-free environment, without putting neither the patient nor the learner at harm. Through simulation learning, the most powerful form of education, the Centre offers a hands-on opportunity to practice clinical skills, non-clinical skills (such as effective communication, leadership skills, etc...) and procedures while encouraging critical thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration among medical teams. Learning happens through reflection of one’s performance. Through actual experiences and by embedding simulation as a routine activity, its power to enable professionals to aspire to excellence is fully realized.
KHMSC is one of the key projects within the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre (MBR-AMC) portfolio, the academic and research arm of DHCC, and shares the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, for academic excellence in healthcare training. DHCC is committed to further developing its education offering and positioning itself as an internationally recognised medical education hub. For more information on KHMSC and various simulation training and courses it provides, please visit the website: http://www.khmsc.ac.ae/
